Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 August 2026
Who we are
Acorn ("we", "us", "our") is a private limited company registered in England and Wales. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why, and what rights you have over it.
What we collect
When you join our waitlist, we collect:
- Your email address, so we can contact you about early access.
- Referral information — if you signed up using someone else's referral link, we record which email address referred you, so we can credit them.
We don't collect names, dates of birth, payment details, or any other personal information through this site at this stage.
How we use it
- To let you know when early access opens.
- To operate our referral system (moving you up the list based on friends who join using your link).
- To understand roughly how many people are interested in Acorn, and where interest is coming from.
We do not sell your email address, and we do not use it for advertising or marketing by third parties.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of third-party services to run this waitlist, and your data passes through them as follows:
- Netlify — hosts this website and stores waitlist form submissions (your email and referral data).
- A lightweight, free counter service used only to track waitlist and referral numbers. If you have a referral link, your email address (in encoded form) is sent to this service each time your referral count is checked, purely to look up a number — it is not used for any other purpose by us or, to our knowledge, by that service.
We don't share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone outside of running this waitlist.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist data until early access has been offered to everyone on the list, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask what data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct or delete it
- Withdraw from the waitlist at any time
To exercise any of these, email us (contact details to follow once available) and we'll action it promptly. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, if you're unhappy with how we've handled your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Acorn develops beyond the waitlist stage. We'll post any changes here.
